Emerging Trends by World Economic Forum

I’ve summarized a list of emerging tech trends that Andrew Maynard summarized from the World Economic Forum’s Global Agenda Council on Emerging Technologies assessment:

  • Informatics for adding value to information [Big Data]
  • Synthetic biology and metabolic engineering
  • Green Revolution 2.0 – technologies for increased food and biomass
  • Nanoscale design of materials
  • Systems biology and computational modeling/simulation of chemical and biological systems
  • Utilization of carbon dioxide as a resource
  • Wireless power
  • High energy density power systems
  • Personalized medicine, nutrition and disease prevention
  • Enhanced education technology

Best outcome would be a nanoscale, wireless, high-density power generation system, based on a synthetic biological system that converts CO2 to a natural fertilizer.
